The answer is a truely special, hand-crafted speciality nib forged from pure 21K gold by Japanese master artisan nib makers. That is what a Sailor 1911 Cross Concord nib is.
 
A truly special handcrafted offering from Sailor, the Naginata Specialty nib line was first introduced in 1991 by legendary nib craftsmen Koyama Gunichi and Nagahara Nobuyoshi, the latter of whom would personally oversee the creation of every single Naginata nib from 1991 to his retirement in 2011.
 
Fitted to Sailor’s classic 1911 Large, the Naginata Concord may look like it's taken an unfortunate tumble off a table, but its bent nib provides a writing experience incomparable to just about anything else currently made by any other pen manufacturer. This is essentially two nibs stacked and forged together. Using the pen normally will provide an accurate and fine line, while flipping it over and pointing the feed upward (inverted), will produce a super generous thick line.  This unique nib allows you to not only write, but draw and sketch with this pen. This is a truely creative nib unlike anything else by any other brand.
 
Sailor actually stopped production for the Specialty Nib pens in 2015 and only resumed production in 2018. Only limited quantity of these pens are made each year and the price has increased quite significantly. They are also only available from a handful of selected retailers across the world.
