The Maxace Ptilopsis packs a variety of advanced features in a light weight and EDC friendly package. The hidden flipper tab (AKA Kickstop) is originally designed by custom knife maker Lee Williams and was licenced to Maxace for this unique project. Instead of being an integral part of the blade, the flipper tab is an independent titanium part that floats freely inside the handle. When the blade is closed, the flipper tab is exposed and ready to be used like any other flipper to open the blade. Once the blade is deployed, the flipper tab will stop and disappear within the handle, giving the knife a sleeker and cleaner look.
 
The full titanium handle is nicely milled with weight reduction pockets on the outside of the handle instead of inside it, adding to the aesthetic and taking away excess weight from the handle. The hybrid integral frame features a large slab of milled titanium covering the entire spine of the knife. This gives the knife the appearance of an integral knife. The hybrid backspacer is also connects the two sides of the handle. The innovation continues even in the smallest details such as the pocket clip. The clip is fitted to the frame from the inside with hidden hardware. 
 
The blade is made from M390 steel and beautifully finished in hand rubbed satin. The deployment is snappy and closing is drop shut smooth. The titanium frame is anodized in deep blue, while the hybrid backspacer and pocket clip are grey, as well as the hidden flipper tab.
