The Benchmade 590 Boost was released in early 2017 and was instantly praised by knife enthusiasts as one the best Benchmade models for outdoors. There are many features that make the Benchmade Boost a serious contender in that category. 
 
One of the best features of the Benchmade Boost is the simple, yet extremely practical Versaflex handle material. The handle is made of 2 different types of injection molded Nylons, the dark grey part si Versaflex and the lighter grey parts are the normal GRN type Nylon. The Versaflex is a very tactile, grippy material that is very slightly flexible. This provides an unprecedented comfort in the hand and superior traction even in wet conditions compared to any other material.
 
The Boost is equipped with Benchmade's well known Axis assist lock mechanism which is easy to use, smooth and reliable. The blade is made from S30V steel and is covered by Benchmade Life Sharp program.
