A true steel connoisseur’s blade material, REX 45 is an ideal steel for this prestigious Native 5 Sprint Run produced in SPYDERCO's USA factory. Crucible CPM-REX 45 is a super-high-speed particle metallurgy tool steel enriched with large volumes of cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium. Its high cobalt content increases the steel’s attainable hardness and enhances the positive properties of the steel’s other alloys. The addition of vanadium promotes the formation of vanadium carbides, which provide high wear resistance, fine grain size and increased toughness.
 
The blade of this knife is crafted from CPM-REX 45 stainless steel and features a full-flat grind, a distal taper, and an understated swedge that combine to offer both a distinctive appearance and exceptional edge geometry. To ensure swift, positive opening with either hand, the blade includes a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole.
 
This knife’s ergonomic handle features a solid stainless steel back spacer and textured Burnt Orange G10 scales. The Native 5’s back lock offers increased strength, an exceptionally smooth action, an improved self-close function, and even greater resistance to wear and tear than previous versions. This Native 5 also features a stout four-position hourglass clip to make all aspects of the Native 5’s carry, deployment, and operation completely ambidextrous.
