Master Kiku Matsuda is a legendary Japanese custom knife maker. He is highly regarded as one of the best blade grinders in Japan for his exceptional grinding skills. Kiku Matsuda is a fifth generation knife grinder, with over 40 years experience.  Unlike other grinders, he uses the flat side area of the grinding wheel to create his 3D grindings such as concave, hollow, Hamaguri or double and triple grinds. 
 
The Regular Back Up is a medium sized fixed blade with a 5"blade ideal for every day carry use. The hand ground, compound grind recurve blade is a work of art. To achieve this complex grind on a traditional grinding wheel, rather than a belt sander requires the skills and experience that only a few posses in the knife making world. The two-tone splatter finish on the blade is also a signature of Kiku Matsuda.
 
The G10 handle is deeply contoured and sculpted for an exceptionally ergonomic grip. The paracord attachment can secure the blade to your hand for more demanding cutting scenarios. The Kydex sheath holds the knife tight and sure and has a belt attachment included.
