Benchmade Bugout 535-1901 Folding Knife Jade Limited Edition CPM 20CV Blade
Limited Edition Serial #1942 of 2000
The Benchmade Bugout is getting a new sprint run variation, the 535-1901. The model is the first non-dealer-exclusive, non-Gold Class sprint for the Bugout, and marks the first time the design appears in G-10.
Benchmade followed its typical procedure when producing this sprint, changing both the handle scales and the blade. The 535 is normally made from S30V, the company’s base level steel of choice these days; this new sprint gets promoted to a more premium CPM-20V blade steel. S30V is no slouch in terms of specs, but 20CV should provide a boost to edge retention while retaining the high corrosion resistance of the steel it replaces.
In most sprint runs the blade steel tends to be the star of the show, but with the new Bugout limited edition, the bigger news may well be the handle material. When the Bugout debuted in 2017, its ultralight construction became its primary selling point: a smartly-designed Grivory handle and a titanium Axis Lock bar helped keep the weight of this mid-size folder down in mini knife territory at 1.85 oz.
